My Forged Summer Bucket List

tumblr_ntv342mxro1uzbegxo1_540

Due partly to my break from blogging and due to already having a 2015 Bucket List (that I’ve been recently neglecting), I skipped doing a Summer Bucket List this year. I’ve done one for the past two years, but I broke the tradition.

However, I thought it would be fun to make a list of things I did do this summer and pretend they were on a bucket list in the first place. 😄

Go swimming once.
Watch more classic horror.
Acquire plastic mini drawer tower for my desk.
See “Mad Max: Fury Road” in theaters.
Buy a clip-on lamp for my bed for nighttime reading.
Thrift shop books.
Find a decent hat to wear in the morning for walking the dogs.
Learn how to grown-up budget.
Consistently blog on Jamie Talks Anime to build a readership.
Watch some 80s movies I’ve not seen.
Feel depressed about math and life.
Skype with friends.
Attend comic-con and wreck my feet from wrong shoe choice.
Purchase my first anime posters.
Start Daredevil.
Fuss over friends’ birthdays on Facebook.
Watch so much anime that I start to accidentally pronounce English words like Japanese words. (yes this happened and there are witnesses.)
Stop neglecting Pinterest and Twitter.
Write a story that might seem weird, just for me.
Sway around in a rainstorm while crowing “Singin’ in the Rain”.

Omg you guys! I did everything on my bucket list this year! And it was so easy! How have I not done this before?! 😉

How about you? Did you do a summer bucket list? Did you get everything marked off like me? 😛

How Do You Find Inspiration?

tumblr_mifi4fA6tp1rwcd98o1_500

It rained and thundered a lot yesterday, and apparently that is the first time that it has ever rained on June 5th here in Arizona since records started getting documented. It’s a month early for the monsoon, and we haven’t had a good thunderstorm since I can’t remember when, so that was pretty exciting. I sat on the porch and held the cats and listened to the neighbor children scream in the yard behind ours. Very relaxing stuff. 😉

I felt uninspired for this blog the past week, so I decided to take that problem and make it a blog post topic. I don’t generally lack inspiration, at least not completely. I’m coming up on an anniversary next week on my anime blog and so I have big blog post plans there. I started writing a short story for myself which has been fun.

I just feel zapped for this blog. My home blog. My baby. Why?!

SO. This post requires reader participation because I want to ask:

What do you do when you run out of inspiration. For anything. What do you really do that helps?

If I can mull over a few of your solutions, I might find one for my own!

I’m going to go back to the window and wait for the rain to come back again. It always leaves whenever I talk about it on social media. 😡

Busting Writer’s Block with Thankfulness

large (11)

I’m thankful for self control–it was hard not spending my money for the past five or six months since January but the delayed gratification was very worth it! When my birthday came and I was able to go on shopping sprees without emptying my bank account–that was satisfying! It definitely made the whole occasion more special! Self control pays off.

I’m thankful for temporary tattoos. I consider tattoos, especially real ones, to be such a fascinating art form. I myself have yet to host any serious thoughts on getting a real tattoo, so temporary tats are perfect for the now. Especially ones that sparkle. 🙂

I’m thankful for Netflix. I can keep my favorite shows close *hackingcough-Family Guy-The Office-Adventure Time-The Walking Dead-Warehouse 13-cough* and discover new ones too *cough-Parks and Recreation-anime-anime-anime-Princess Jellyfish-Fate/Zero-Ouran-anime-anime-anime-PARKS AND RECREATION-cough* (Also I discovered two of my most favorite movies ever on Netflix: Thelma and Louise and Clue.

I’m thankful for piano finger warm ups. They are fun and challenging without being overwhelming, so they’re an overall encouragement to my piano playing.

I’m thankful for the Internet. Not only is it full of interesting nooks, sources of income, and fun entertainment, but also can host things like blogs and Skype. One of my favorite things is getting to make new friends and keep in touch with old ones. I mean, the Internet has it’s downfalls, but I’m looking at the bright side here and this is a big bright side.

I’m thankful for the rain storms. My part of town has had at least three good storms the past month, which is more than the past few years. I LOVE IT; I wish it rained more! It smells so good. The mood it sets is fantastic for writing or getting stuff done. It makes the air more invigorating, the ground more green, and life just more exciting–at least, here in the Tatooine desert!

I’m thankful for that crackling soda fizz that lingers in the throat after you drink too much at once. It’s sharp but I always go back for more because it’s just such a small but fun delightful part of day-to-day life. It makes the slow moments more special.

PS. Also snap bracelets!

Currently liking: that I got to go to the Phoenix Comic Con! Kayla and I went together and had lots of fun! We got pictures with cosplayers, got lost among tshirts and posters and so much merchandise and saw John Barrowman from a far, lol. It was so exciting to at last get to go to something so big for the people with nerd and geeky love. You can check out some of my pictures and their captions on my Instagram. 🙂

Currently listening: also watching–Doctor Who Season 7’s episode A Town Called Mercy. I’d like to plow through a disk by tonight if possible. I’m multitasking. 😛

Currently drinking: Shasta’s Kiwi Strawberry soda. There is something magical in that soda because it’s my new favorite.

Currently sitting: in the living room, on the love seat, across from the tv. I like this seat because I can rock back and forth.

Currently reading: lots and lots of kids books from the library, to Nathan. It’s THE BEST fun to find new books to read to him. It also makes me happy that he likes to hear me read. I’m still trying to get him excited about finding the books when we’re at the library, however, once at home he brings me the books to read aloud. It’s lots of fun!

Currently writing: it’s more like currently trying to avoid writing the last two parts of my top 100 favorite movies list. I’ve had lots of fun doing this but it’s been full of it’s own struggles.

Currently watching: Doctor Who Season 7, Parks and Recreation (really fun show, I recommend!) and a variety of movies.

Currently obsessed with: The Cornetto Trilogy. Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg write amazing films. And Nick Frost is awesome.

Currently tired: from all the walking on Friday at Comic Con and… tired of other things related to Doctor Who but I’m saving that with everything else for my post once I finish up Season 7.

Currently excited: that I got to go to Comic Con. I wasn’t even going to go originally because I didn’t have enough money from what I’ve been saving, but my mom offered to help me as a treat. I feel very blessed to have gotten to go and have the experience! I want to cosplay something next year if possible!

Currently scaring myself with: a very big Booktrack soundtrack competition right now. It’s kind of a big deal but I will have to talk about it another time. It’s just a little scary but you can’t do anything unless you try, so that’s what I’m doing.

Currently stuck in my head: nothing at the moment, thank heavens.

Currently wishing: well, hey, wait a minute, a wish has come true; COMIC CON WAS AWESOME!

Currently praying: for some rainstorms to come visit me. It’s already very hot and I am already tired of it. GO AWAY 108 DEGREE WEATHER. I DON’T LIKE YOU.

This Year, I’m Thankful For…

f57564f89623636ab929d36140e36654I’m thankful for my Mom because she is the bravest person I know; she’s made my home peaceful again.

I’m thankful for lessons I’ve learned about humanity and myself this past year.

I’m thankful for my best friends, even though none of them are nearby me.

I’m thankful for my ever growing comfort zone and confidence.

I’m thankful for the cold, rainy weather.

I’m thankful for music.

I’m thankful.
