Until Next Monday…

29 Jan

This next week I will not be on my computer at all, as our family relooks at our schooling and acomplishes some bigger projects that we’ve been putting off. Therefore, I’ll be neither blogging or even checking my emails (We’ll be able to continue our photography challenge, though).

If any of you were wondering where I was over the weekend because I didn’t post— I’m fine, the only thing that happened was that Mom and Dad were out of town for the weekend and I kept busy watching movies. Kayla and I watched a ton—Charlie Chan, Sherlock Holmes, Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot films (what do they have in common? They’re all detectives.)

Miss Marple: We saw at least three of her movies

And last night, Kayla and I had our Avenger Marathon! We watched Iron Man, than Thor, and than finished with Captain America. I didn’t get to bed till 3:00 in the morning. I’m so tired from lack of sleep, but it was so worth it. Watching all three and than watching the mini avenger trailer to top it all off . . .  it was extremely epic.

So, yes. I can now say I saw all three movies one after another in one night. WHOOOOO!

Anyway… I’m extremely tired, I’ll probably be going to bed really early to make up for last night. Kayla, Nathan and I are safe and sound and so are Mom and Dad, and so is the house. :D

Oh. Kayla and I get to go see Beauty and the Beast 3D on Thursday. I’m EXTREMELY excited because it’s my most favorite Disney movie ever and it will also be my first 3D movie.

So anyway. See y’all next week!

Green Screen Shots from the Creation Museum

28 Oct

I just downloaded our green-screen pictures that the photograph at the Creation Museum, and I wanted to share my two favorites. :D

Haha, they made us look ‘frightened’ for this picture. LOL Look at Nathan, he’s so blank. Me and Kayla look so funny. I look great in that shirt…

*Gasps* speaking of Captain America, I’m scrambling to write a review for it, it will hopefully be published sometime today! :D

HOME!

19 Oct

We arrived home safe and sound this afternoon ’round 3:00! I’m so glad to be back with my own bed and bathroom again! :)

Praise the Lord that we didn’t have any car trouble over our whole cross-country adventure nor was anyone hurt (and that our sicknesses was mild)! All the chickens are fine and the cat is alright too; a big thanks to Mrs T (Tink and Clarence’s owner) for coming over everyday to take care of them. I don’t have news on our turtles because they’re at The Boys’ home, but I’m sure they’re all right too.

We’ve unpacked most of our stuff, but we still have some things floating around the house. I still need to do the dishes. :)

Anyway, I just wanted to give the final vacation update that we have gotten back safe and sound!

Pictures of DC

17 Oct

Okay, here is the collection of the best pictures from our three days in Washington D.C. The picture above is from the Iwo Jima memorial; as you can see, we are wearing coats and using umbrellas as it was sprinkling.

There’s is just something tingly in this memorial; well, the picture it came from itself. Very cool and heroic looking! Probably one of the most epic memorials there.

And the same day we saw the Jefferson Memorial. I liked all his quotes on the walls; they were full of God’s truth right there for anyone to read!

Day Two: here we are beside one of the many Metro maps. If you see the blue line, it comes right towards my head there. That’s the line we rode on. :) Nathan has been making the weirdest faces for the camera on this trip. There’s one of them!

HERE ARE THE ACTUAL RUBY SLIPPERS! :D See what I mean about them looking old? They were as bright red in the movie, but I understand why! :P

Here is a skeleton from a sea turtle from the Natural Mesuem. It was huge!!!!!!!

And here is an actual dinosaur skull! Very big, and the teeth are pretty big! I wish we had taken more pictures from the museums but Mom wouldn’t give me the camera…. so we don’t have as many pictures as I would have liked.

THIRD DAY. This shot of the Capital Building was taken from the Trolley.

I think Mom got this shot of the Lincoln Memorial. It was very BIG!

I took this picture of part of the Vietnam War Memorial.

Here we are in front of the wall of names for the Vietnam Memorial. Nathan happens to be making another one of his faces!

Names of those who gave their lives for freedom.

I also got this shot and the next one of the Korean War Memorial. Dad says this way is really declared over because we still have soldiers there!

I like how real looking these statues are; almost as if they were frozen in time!

Here Kayla and I with the Lincoln Memorial behind us. We were standing the Trolley line before we found out the roads were closed and trolley wasn’t coming! Also, CHECK OUT my new shirt!!!! LOVE IT to pieces!

Me with the Washington Memorial behind me. It was closed because the recent earthquake and it was damaged from that.

Had to do this one of Nathan! :P

And here we are on the Metro on our way home, very exhausted from all our walking!!

Adventure in the Captial

15 Oct

Today was fun and enjoyable, but not everything went the way we had planned!

We came in on the Metro trains, and from there we bought our Old Town Trolley tickets. It was sunny and bright, but very windy as we started our tour. The trolleys were really cute; gold and green. They don’t run on tracks, though. We planned to hop off down at the Lincoln Memorial, so we sat through most of the ride. Than…. our driver made a wrong turn…..and we ended up on the freeway! Yes, I’m serious, on the freeway! We ended up driving down into Virgina before we could turn around! Our tour guide said we got the once in a life time adventure tour! He pointed out a lot of things while we were on the freeway.

He did get us back on the route and dropped us off at the Lincoln Memorial. That thing is huge! We visited the Vietnam memorial and the Korean memorial too. Speaking of Korean, the President of South Korea came into Washington this morning and that messed up the traffic a little bit. We didn’t get to see him or anything, but he sure screwed us traffic.

After we had a light lunch, we met with the full aftermath of bad traffic from local protestors. All the roads leading into the Lincoln Memorial were closed, which meant all the buses and trollies couldn’t come get us all! We ended WALKING about an hour and half all the way into town to the American History Museum! My feet are still killing me. From there, Dad wanted to us to still be able to see the International Spy Museum. So, he took Nathan to the Air and Space Smithsonian, and hired a Peddi Cab to take Kayla, Mom and I too the spy museum. I was kinda nervous on that ride, so I pretended I was some kind of Star Wars nobility being taken somewhere by my trusty driver. I felt better pretending.

The Spy Museum is one of the most awesome places I’ve ever been to. OF COURSE, no photography was allowed, so we couldn’t take any pictures or video. We met up with Dad and Nathan for dinner and found our way back to the Metro station. We dropped from one train to another, and than ended up waiting twenty minutes because it was delayed. I could have fallen asleep on the ride back to our district.

I’m exhausted, but I did want to write up the exciting stuff before I lost much detail. :) We start for home tomorrow, and will hopefully be back to Arizona by next Sunday for sure. I can’t believe our vacation is almost over. I’m going to need a vacation, from this vacation!
