I was a fan of Star Wars before Disney bought it

30 Oct

A reliable source brought to my attention that last Friday George Lucas sold Lucasfilms to Disney. And they are planning on releasing Star Wars Episode 7 in 2015!

I’m honestly speechless about this. And am absolutely horrified of what could be in store for one of my favorite fandoms.

Memes are the only way I’m able to express my feelings accurately….

MY MIND IS IN PANIC MODE I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THIS INFORMATION BUT I’M INWARDLY DYING RIGHT NOW THE APOCALYPSE IS COMING I THINK.

My Life’s Soundtrack (Part 1)

23 Mar

Stole this idea from Jedi~Chick ’cause it looked totally fun!!! :D The idea is basically cataloging the songs that remind you of different times in your life. Like a soundtrack. So, here’s mine; or at least, four of them. I might do a part 2 next Friday. :)

Do you know that almost sub-conscious feeling, like when you were a REALLY little kid, so innocent, so pure—that deep in-your-soul feeling, almost? I get it listening to this intro song because I watched 101 Dalmatians when I was very young. Like, a couple times but than I didn’t get to see till I was sixteen–that’s a huge time gap. I got the soundtrack for my sixteenth birthday and listening to this song just gave that awe induced feeling. That sub-conscious “I remember!” feeling. :)

Same with this cartoon (I know, not a song, but who cares). In fact, when I was trying to remember the old cartoons which I saw only when I was very little, this was the VERY first to pop in my head. Isn’t that weird–this one. And the one scene that stuck out was were Clarice steps out in front of the very glittery curtain and starts singing. This conjures that sub-conscious ‘little child’ feeling too. Re-watching this took me straight back.

This music reminds me of my….what was it, sixteenth year? I think I was sixteen when our Pastor’s family filmed Friday at Noon. That was pretty big for our little church (I got to be an extra several times in it) and Gabe wrote some darn good music for it. I listened to it a lot because I was always re-watching the trailers. :P This is one of my favorite tracks from his complete soundtrack and it’s got some of the themes from the film. It simply reminds me of those days in summer where everyone was talking about Friday at Noon. That just seems like a pretty large event my life.

This? THIS SCREAMS NANOWRIMO! I listened to this constantly when I was writing my month long book challenge last Novemeber. I vividly connect this piece with sitting in my purple butterfly chair with my laptop with my bedroom door closed to block out all the noise and hurriedly typing away anything that came into my head to go down next on paper. Just, ‘WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! GET OUT! GET IT ON THAT COMPUTER SCREEN! I DON’T CARE IF IT’S UTTER TRASH, JUST WRITE, WRITE, WRITE, WRITE, NO, DON’T FIX THAT! LEAVE IT! COME ON, KEEP THOSE FINGERS GOING, YOU HAVE A DEADLINE, LET’S MOVE! THIS FOR 50,000 WORDS! COME ON! WRITE! WRITE! WRITE!!!” Loved every minute of it. I’ll probably do it again this year. Because writing is one of my hugest passions in life and it’s what I’m really good at. But, let’s save that for another post. :)

Oh, if you have nothing else to do now that you’ve gotten to the end of this post, go check out Jedi~Chick’s post!! :D

The 11 Tag

23 Feb

Lauren at Bits and Pieces tagged me with this very fun looking tag!!! Thanks so much, Lauren! I’m going to get right into it.
The Rules:
1) Post these rules.
2) Post 11 random things about yourself
3) Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post
4) Create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer
5) Go to their blog and tell them they’ve been tagged
6) No cop-outs in the tagging section like, “If you are reading this” or “if you follow me”. You have to legitimately tag people!
I can tell this is going to be a long post! LOL!
1. I enjoy Disney movies a lot; but for whatever reason, I have never seen The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Dumbo, or Peter Pan. No, I don’t feel like I haven’t lived.
2. My first Pixar movie was Finding Nemo.
3. I’ve taken back some of my dislike for The Clone Wars since watching their bounty hunter arc. There is good in this show because there is Obi-Wan and Cad Bane. Cad Bane is one of my new favorite bounty hunters. I still am not wild about all the changes and complications they’ve done though. FOR HEAVEN’S SAKE, THEY’RE BRINGING DARTH MAUL BACK TO LIFE! BLASPHEMY! I take that as pure insult against Obi-Wan. *continues fuming*
4. I really got into writing because of a children’s mystery series called Encyclopedia Brown. I grew up on those stories and than made the characters my own in my writing. So they’re all very special to me.
5. I rarely have dreams with movie characters in them. With rare exceptions: like my dream a couple nights ago where I was with Tony Stark and I had an arc reactor in my chest. And my other dream where I was at the chiropractor’s office and saw the Imperial officers holding a meeting in the waiting room! Ask in the comments for the full dream if you want to hear it.
6. My favorite comic series is Calvin and Hobbes. Calvin is one of the smartest yet childish characters ever and his adventures are hilarious. Hobbes is also one of the cutest things ever. I especially like him because he’s a tiger and tigers are my favorite creatures.
7. I’m prominent around my good friends as being “very hilarious”.
8. I have ridden a motorcycle; but not by myself, of course. A friend took me for a spin up and down a long road at a party once. I kept thinking it was like riding a land-speeder from Star Wars to keep myself from freaking out slightly as it was a totally new experience. It was very fun and I’d love to ride again.
9. I can concentrate better on writing when there is noise in the background. Not random noise, but a steady noise, like rain. When I want or need to be serious about it, I listen to this rain effect. For whatever reason, the rain through my headphones blocks out other distractions and calms me down. Go figure.
10. A book character whom I feel is just like me is Dr. Watson. For three simple reasons: We both see things but never actually observe (but when we do, we do great!). Neither of us are handy at the thinking process; we’re more those type friends who can sit and listen and help during the action. And we both write about our adventures: he goes on big ones and I go on little ones but we both come back and write about them in first person point of view. See? Dr Watson is my alter ego, I think: No denying it. And in movie version, like Nigel Bruce’s version, I can be of good humor a lot! LOL
11. I have three slideshows running constantly on my desktop: Star Wars, Avengers and Captain America. With a Captain America shield in the background. It’s rocking awesome.
Now I need to answer Lauren’s questions. She has some good ones! :)
1. If you could spend one day with anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would you spend it with?
Gosh… besides Jesus (wouldn’t that be awesome), I’d like to meet my Mom’s mom, and my favorite actor, Basil Rathbone. That’s such a tough question.
2. What is your current favorite song?
Believe by Britt Nicoles
3. What’s your favorite summer activity, big or small?
Swimming! I LOVE swimming; water is nice to be in during the summer.
4. Let’s say you get a cat. A really cute, really fluffy, really adorable cat. What do you name it?
Heehee, I did get a cat. I named her Princess. For fun, pretending it was a boy, I would have named it . . . . maybe Bucky, after Bucky Barnes in Captain America.
5. If you could own one exotic animal, with the guarantee that it wouldn’t eat you, or trample you, or some other tragic thing…what would it be?
Hands down; a tiger! My most favorite animal! I’d love to have one! If could act like a little cat, that would be amazing!!!
6. Who is the scariest movie villain?
No doubt about it; the wicked queen from Snow White! I’m seventeen years old and she creeped me out completely when I watched the film for the first time last summer! *Shivers* Especially when she transformed. Blaw.
7. Did you like Aurora’s dress more when it was pink, or when it was blue?
Blue. I actually like the blue one better.
8. Who inspires you most, whether they be famous or non-famous?
That’s hard to say. My mom is one of my biggest role models.
9. Would you rather sit down with a good book, or sit down all comfy cozy with the laptop and read blogs, pin stuff, Facebook creep, etc…?
I will do either a book or my laptop: I would read blogs and write up posts.
10. Absolute favorite Disney character?
IMPOSSIBLE! Okay, I will list several favorites that I might not have already mentioned on here:
Jane,
Miss Bianca,
Cogsworth,
Basil,
and Winnie-the-Pooh
11. What is one of your favorite quotes?
“I’m just a kid from Brooklyn” *SQUUUUEEEE*
Now these are the questions you need to take and answer at your blog if you’re tagged: but like Lauren said at her blog. If you want to do this, feel free too even if I don’t tag you. :)
1. What famous movies have you not seen yet but would like too?
2. What is your opinion of Charlie Brown?
3. Which of your favorite books would you love to see made into a film and why?
4. What is one of your favorite pass-times?
5. What type of vehicle would you love to own, from any film, book or even from reality?
6. What movie poster would you LOVE to own if you could have your pick?
7. What is a minor thing you’d like to see in your future spouse?
8. What is your opinion of snakes?
9. What is a pet peeve you’ve discovered from being on the blogosphere?
10. If you could dress up–without any difficulty or thought of cost–as any character, who would it be?
11. Where would you like to go on vacation this year?
I now tag:
I won’t be offended if you don’t do it. ;) And if some of you don’t know who to tag, feel free to tag me back, as I’ll happily answer your questions! :)
This was a very long post and it took all day to make but it was SO FUN at the same time! Thanks again, Lauren, for tagging me! I’ve been over due for a long post of randomness! :D

Movie Meme Part 4

16 Feb

Day 16 – The last movie you saw in theaters :

Beauty and The Beast 3D was the last movie I saw in theaters. Before that, it was Dolphin Tale.

Day 17 – Best movie you saw during the last year :

Outside of Star Wars? Hands down, Captain America: The First Avenger. Hands down, best movie to be released in 2011. And of course, Star Wars, which we first saw in 2011 as well. But, you already know how much I love Star Wars.
Day 18 – A movie that disappointed you the most :

I HATE having to say this, because I really did enjoy Raiders of the Lost Ark and I wanted it to be my next new favorite. But sadly, by the time we had gotten to the end, I was left with an empty feeling and several missing story building aspects that were not there left me disappointed. It is a great film and should be completely recognized as another George Lucas/Steven Spielberg master piece. But, in all honesty, it was a disappointment.
Day 19 – Your favorite actor:

Basil Rathbone. I can not even begin to describe how much I love his life story and how he brought villains and the master mind detective to brilliant life in the early years of filmmaking. Other favorite actors? I try to recap just a few below:

Chris Evans, who played Steve Rogers/Captain America perfectly,

Tom Hiddelston, who rocked the role of Loki in Thor and is one of the sweetest actors I’ve ever seen,

Harrison Ford, who played the amazing Han Solo,

And the new favorite, Dick Van Dyke!
Day 20 – Your favorite actress:

Carrie Fisher of course. She played Princess Leia wonderfully!!! The only other actress I can think of right now is my new favorite,

Gwyneth Paltrow, who played Pepper Potts in Iron Man and Iron Man 2! She was wonderful and she’s my new favorite.

I promise, I will publish the Super 8 review this afternoon!!!!

Our Beauty and the Beast 3D Experience

7 Feb

So, yay! Kayla and I got to go to the theaters by ourselves for the first time ever and the movie we saw was my favorite Disney movie, Beauty and the Beast… in 3D! We were very excited and it was a fun sister-sister date. It was actually a reward for doing great while Mom and Dad were gone over the weekend. It’s kind of official that we’re definitely big girls now. We stayed home by ourselves for over fortytwo hours and behaved beautifully at the theaters. Yes. It’s official.

Mom dropped the two of us off at the front of Harkins and waited to make sure we got our tickets fine (I wasn’t sure if I had enough money in my purse!) and that we got inside the door safely. I wasn’t nervous at all, actually. The guy behind the glass wasn’t a creep and handed us our 3D glasses right trough the window.  We got our tickets, waved at Mom and trooped inside.

Inside was empty, which wasn’t surprising because the parking lot was also very empty. Than again, it was the middle of the day on a Thursday…. so….

Anyway, we got a cup of sprite before we headed for our theater. We had smuggled in water and boxes of Junior Mints in our purses already, so we didn’t need to get snacks. (Kayla actually sneaked in her own popcorn too!) LOL

We had the entire theater to ourselves. We got settled in the very middle, giggling and wiggling in our seats. The 3D glasses fit nicely and we twiddled our thumbs through the boring celebrity quizzes. They’re boring because we don’t know any recent celebrities. (Actually, I did see one about the guy who plays Edward in Twilight, but it’s not like I know much or care about Twilight) (except that the guy who plays Edward hates the entire franchise. He gained some respect from me after I found that out).

Than the trailers started playing. They were mostly for animation films, but I didn’t mind really. The Dr. Sues one was the most interesting, along with a claymation pirate movie, but I probably won’t see either.

And than the Star Wars trailer ran. OH MY GOSH. I’d seen it before, but it was the first time I’d seen it in 3D.

It was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. It ended and I started bouncing around and loudly squealing, “I’M TOTALLY SEEING THIS IN 3D! OH MY GOODNESS!” Thank heavens we were all by ourselves and I was free to be hysterical.

Than the Tangled Ever After short ran. It was cute. I honestly expected more from it though, and in many ways it was rather cheesy. It was more about Maximus and Pascal than Rapunzel and Flynn, and I wish I could have seen more of the actual wedding. I LOVE Maximus, but they had him slide through a dress stall and a hat stall, so he wore this ridiculous get-up throughout most of the short.

But all in all, it was very fun and I’m glad I got to see it! If you’re a huge Tangled fan, than you’d probably die with laughter and fall onto the people in the row in front of you. Just sayin’. Be warned. XD (People, if you go see this movie and you want to be undistrubed, figure out which people look like Tangled fans, and sit away from them! You will probably be less distrubed. :D ) (Tangled fans, don’t get offensive. That warning could be said about every major Marvel fan who is going to see the Avengers. HAHA! You probably won’t want to sit near me during my first viewing…. )

Oh, I was SO EXTREMELY HAPPY at the very end when I got a glimpse of the Stabbington Brothers during the wedding. If you didn’t know, I like the Stabbington Brothers a lot; they’re such characters (Don’t kill me. I have my own opinions.)

Sorry, had to include The Bros, even if it's from the last movie

There you go. A mini Tangled spam in the middle of all this Beauty and the Beast loveliness.

And by the time the trailers and short had ended, I’d eaten all but three of my Junior Mints.  I felt like such a pig. *face palm*

And than, FINALLY, the movie began! The music started and it began in the forest, the castle in the distance. That opening 3D shot took my breath away. The 3D was amazing; it was like the movie was coming to life! It was sooooo georgous. The scenes where it was snowing or raining were especially cool because it was almost like you were sitting in it! It was fun seeing depth throughout the film. And no, neither of us got headaches afterwards!

Beside the 3D, I was finally seeing my favorite Disney movie on the big screen, all huge and loud and glorious.

The rest of the film was just as amazing.

Of course, the best moment was the Transformation scene. I started crying and my face and neck was so wet by the time the credits rolled. I was glad I brought a handkerchief in my purse, so I could clean up and not look like an emotional mess staggering out of the theater.

But in all honesty, the ending always makes me cry. It’s the only film that I can guarantee to actually tear up by the end. I was weeping in our living room when I first re-saw it after borrowing it from the library. Because it’s so beautiful. Who wouldn’t cry?

Thanks, Mom and Dad, for letting go see it! I certainly had a wonderful time being a grown up and seeing a favorite movie on the big screen! Kayla and I had fun together. It was a special, ‘magical’ moment!
