Currently listening: to 2Cellos. If you like groups like Escalla then there is a large chance you will love 2Cellos. I’ve been listening to this song a lot recently.

Currently reading: well, about to start The Time Machine by HG Wells.

Currently drinking: Dr Pepper Cherry. Yum.

Currently missing: Kayla, who has been gone for about six weeks, The Office which I haven’t seen in several weeks, and I miss The Doctor.

Currently learning on the piano: Song for Sienna by Brian Crain and struggling to learn by ear the eleventh Doctor’s theme song, I am the Doctor, with the help of this video. It’s extremely hard, let me tell you.

Currently watching: Season 2 of Grimm and Season 5 of Merlin; also currently in love with both Nick Burkhardt and Merlin’s grin.

Currently tired: of always losing. Losing my stuff, losing energy, losing contact with friends, losing at go-fish against my six year old brother.

Currently writing: a bunch of blogposts. A bedroom picture post, a review of Warm Bodies, a post on my favorite characters, a post all on Dwight Schrute, a post on self-discovery and a goodbye post to my church friends who I will not be seeing for a long time…

Currently scaring myself with: the idea of cutting my hair short (think Claudia Donovan-style from Warehouse 13, only with curly hair)

Currently wishing: to go to another state fair. And to go to London. And to go to Washington state.

Currently excited: about finding SEASON TWO OF DOCTOR WHO FOR ONLY TWENTY BUCKS AT COSTCO LAST WEEK, DO YOU KNOW HOW CHEAP THAT IS AND HOW LONG I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS SEASON I CAN’T WAIT TO START WATCHING IT WITH KAYLA WHEN SHE GETS HOME. oh and for IRON MAN 3 WHICH IS ALMOST HERE I’M SO EXCITED TO SEE THAT MOVIE. oh, and for THOR 2 AND THE AMAZING TRAILER THAT JUST CAME OUT OH MY GOSH I LOVE MARVEL MOVIES.

Currently failing: at Camp NaNo. I thought I’d give it a try but it turned out I was just not recovered emotionally or mentally yet to try pushing myself at it this month. I’ve backed off and decided to give it another try in July. As long as emotional tornadoes stop dropping out of the sky on top of me, that is.

Currently stuck in my head: Made for You by One Republic. Blame the fan-tas-tic beat for that.

Currently praying: that things will calm down soon and that I won’t do such a bad job at painting my finger nails like I did last night and that I will be able to start getting up earlier again and that the next month will be a new, fresh chapter in life for me and my sister and my mom and little brother.

Really really praying for that last one.

Firsts

19 Feb

tumblr_mho8vlcNVG1rau9wyo1_500

I thought it would be a fun idea to chronicle some of the firsts in my life so I don’t forget, in big things and little things, and in no certain order at all.

So, here we go. Let’s see what I can remember.

The first tooth I lost was when I was four years old in a fish and chips restaurant. I actually can still conjure up the rather blurry memory of digging it out of my mouth.

The first young man to ask me to be his proper dance partner was Stephen, and that was this past November. We’d actualy just met several months prior at Family Camp and we just really hit it off well.  Whenever we’re at the same parties we end up being together for the entirety of the evening. He’s lots of fun.

The first story I wrote was about a boy named Tom and his siblings. I was about seven or eight years old.

The first superhero movie I ever saw was Captain America: The First Avenger. (The second superhero movie I saw was Thor.)

The first mystery series I ever read (as far as I can remember) was Cam Jansen, the girl with the photographic memory. Did anyone else read Cam when they were young? Or Encyclopedia Brown? Or The Boxcar Children? Or American Girl History Mysteries? It’s no wonder my primary entertainment is sleuths and whodunits nowadays, that is all I read as a kid. :)

My first official crush was Basil Rathbone’s Sherlock Holmes. Unashamed.

The first vampire book I ever read was Dracula. Not Twilight. That’s how it should be. (By the way, Dracula? Best. Book. Ever.)

The first person I ever wanted to marry was my best friend Ben. It was kinda devastating to learn that cousins couldn’t marry however. :P

The first time I got to pet stingrays was at the zoo. But the first time I got to feed stingrays was two year later at Sea World. Both of these things are one of the best feelings in the world, especially if you’re an animal lover, like myself.

The first poster I ever bought was Star Wars related.

I’m pretty sure the first movie I ever saw in theaters was VeggieTale’s Jonah Movie. And I still like that movie.

The first pet I ever personally owned with a hermit crab.  Who’s name I can’t remember anymore.

The first laptop I ever owned weighed about 100 pounds and could barely run the old Army Man games (well, it wasn’t literally a 100 pounds but it was so old that it was just super heavy). My parents were nice enough to get me better one when I proved to be responsible.

My first boyfriend (and so far only boyfriend) is not even a boy. But he’s a he. And he’s the neighbor dog. Clarence. Who adores me because I’ve been walking him for nearly four years. And he treats me like I’m his girlfriend. Because he gets jealous of my attention. So everybody says he’s my boyfriend. Speaking of which: he was my Valentine this year! He laid on my feet, gave me his paw all on his own and even gave me a kiss on face when I asked for one.  Oh, if you were wondering, he’s a Golden Lab. And he’s my first boyfriend.

The first PG-13 movie I saw was The Blind Side.

The first kitten I ever saw delivered from beginning to end was the oldest of Princess’s litter, Dot.

And I would tell you all about the first time someone called me crazy but I don’t remember because it was so long ago and there have been so many numerous times that it’s impossible to pinpoint the exact first time. So, anyway.

An Avenger Post

10 Aug

I’ve come across some of the cutest Avenger fan art recently and it’s some of the best out there. Take this pic here, Thor is recharging the teams I-pads with his hammer and Loki is checking someone’s out behind him.

So cute!

LOL. I love group shots of them all, you can see everyone’s facial expressions in regard to each other. Look at Steve frowning at Tony! HA!

CLASSIC!

Rolling on floor laughing. Look at their cheeks bulging with food.

This is so cute. Literally so cute. Look at Phil Coulson, the little fanboy with his Captain America doll, he left his spot to come sleep next to his hero! SO CUTE. sldkfjklsjflksjk. Lol, I just noticed Thor! :P

Here’s another of fanboy Coulson happily staring at his hero still frozen.

And I love seeing all the Hulk/Bruce and Iron Man/ Tony art. The two Science Bros. I really the friendship these two have.

Sassy pants. Everybody’s has their sassy pants on in the Avengers. :P

I just needed an Avenger post today. Oh, if you haven’t seen this film yet, than go see it! It’s incredible! I really want to see again already!

Credit goes to the artists who created the art above, well done, guys! :)

The Avengers Review (spoilers)

16 May

I decided to link to a couple of the well-done non-spoiler reviews I’ve read; if you need a spoiler-free review, go read these. :P

Review at J&J Productions

Review at Words of the Worlds

If you’ve seen the movie, keep reading! If you haven’t seen it or any of the movies, stop right here and put them on your ‘watch soon’ list. Go ahead. Write them down. Thank you. :D

The movie: WAAAAAAS AAAWWESOME! Dad took Kayla and I to one of the larger theaters (not an Imax) called a cina Capri–it was hands down the nicest theater I’ve ever been to. The seats were awesome because they rocked back and forth and you could raise the armrests up. We sat near the front above the wheelchair section; where there was a big railing, so the three of us could put up our feet (a must-do when at the theaters). Dad got us popcorn and soda as well.

We arrived early to stand in line and were  life the sixth people in line. They let us in right after the people had finished cleaning up, so we all ran in to grab the best seats. We sat through a tone of quizzes, commercials before they even ran the previews. The trailers were awesome (Pixar’s Brave looks absolutely horrid but my interest was piqued by the Expendables 2 trailer. I’ve also seen the Spiderman trailers over five times now in theaters. I’m pretty positive I want to see that movie.)

Okay, first thing I wanted to talk about was Agent Coulson’s death, because while the entire movie was amazing, this was one thing that stood out the most to me; at least considering the story’s plot. I’ll admit that I rather suspected that he was going to be bumped off in this movie, because I kept seeing “Agent Coulson Appreciation Posts” everywhere, and one starts getting conclusions. But I went in hoping against hope that they’d spare him. Well, as you know, Loki killed him and it was his death that really helped pull everyone together at the end.

This gif explains all.

Even though I suspected his death, it hit me much harder than I had expected. I cried (making The Avengers the second superhero film to make me cry) and the first thing I said after we left the theater was “I can’t believe they killed Coulson!” That twist was great concerning the plot and I even think it was necessary. But I’ll admit I was quite sad about it for at least a day afterwards. I really liked Coulson; heck, he was in three of the former films! So sad. Even though I’m sorry to see him go, the rumors I’ve been hearing about bringing him back to life are absolutely horrifying and disgusting. I hate how filmmakers now a days are bringing characters back to life. It really dumbs down the whole idea of death and it doesn’t leave as much impact any more. *glares at the Clone Wars Team for their extremely stupid decision to bring Darth Maul back to life—I hate you all*

I’m going to talk only briefly on these guys because I want to give my opinion on the newer characters:

Steve Rogers: LOVE HIM TO DEATH. end of story. (I’m also not pleased that his new nick-name will probably become Capsicle.)

Thor: I love his style of speech; I also love how he still wanted Loki to come back home. His hammer is pretty sweet.

Tony Stark: Hilarity itself; also quite rude (I could have slapped the screen when he was talking the Steve at the one point where everyone kinda lost it. “DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU’RE TALKING TO, BUSTER?! THAT IS CAPTAIN AMERICA!”) but also still heroic. I was very proud of him at the end.

Clint Barton. I didn’t know very much about him except that he had a cameo in Thor and that he was an archer. Anyway, I ended up really liking him by the end. I love the friend/friend relationship he had with Black Widow and how they worked together as a team. I did not expect Loki to take over his mind smack-dab at the beginning of the film either. Anyway I really liked him and I hope to see more of him in the future movies.

Black Widow AKA Natasha. I liked her WAAAY better than from Iron Man 2. The short hair is a great improvement. The movie’s plot stuck pretty close to her, as she had a lot when it came to getting things done (like actually being the one to use Loki’s tool at the end). Like I already said, I really like her and Clint’s relationship. The idea of a prequel film about how the two of them met really excites me but I don’t think that will ever made.

Bruce Banner. REALLY liked him. He was a great character; he and Tony had similar interests and yet their very different from each other. I felt sorry that he was quite afraid of himself and what would happen to him if he lost his temper but I was pleased that he was able to use The Hulk to aid The Avengers throughout the end climax (and he saved Tony! Squeee!) I would be interested in seeing another Hulk film staring Mark Ruffalo anyday!

The only other thing I wanted to point out was that this was more than an action packed, special effects superhero film. This movie had heart. Praise the Lord.

The only other way I can finishing summing up the awesomeness of this film is pictures. Because everyone knows that one picture is worth a thousand words.

Ahhhh… This movie. It should win film of the year.

“This movie. I like it. ANOTHER.”

Assembled At Last

10 May

My week break isn’t over yet, but I have an awesome Mom who said I could do a quick blog post—we saw the Avengers Wednesday night!!! It was frightfully amazing, but am I the only person who thinks the trailers were a little misleading? Kayla and I also missed several quotes that were taken out. Otherwise, it was a super amazing movie and so worth the wait to see. I got incredibly emotional at one part and there were several parts where Kayla and I silently applauded together.

Steve Rogers is still my permanent favorite; he was amazing throughout the entire film. Several of his quotes were also really good and I love how he was all business.

Tony was hilarious as ever and though quite selfish and rude at points, he was still a hero. I think he’s my second favorite Avenger…

The other character I have to talk about is, of course, Loki, because he’s the villain. Quite a different man he was, in this film. Embittered and hurt, but completely taking it out on others… happily. I was so happy the film had him use his fake mirror tricks again; those are my favorites.

I’ll cover the rest of the characters in my film review next week.

Marvel outdid themselves with witty humor, startling twists, heroic moments and amazing effects. The film left in me in slight shock afterwards and I ended up over sleeping this morning (I dreamed about horses… that was weird.) I would certainly say this is a must see film!

Prepare to be blown out of the water.

P.S. The movie left me really excited for Thor 2… Not sure why…

I’ll be back to blogging Sunday or Monday just like on schedule. So I bid you ado till then. I have a Sherlock Holmes story to finish!
