Bright and Beautiful

30 Jun

As my family goes into the darkest chapter of life, I’ve been trying to find things that are cheery, bright, and just different from the norm (as of right now, this week has been so very abnormal and stressful). One of the bright things I found this week were some tumblers on the Disney Princesses.

The only Disney Princess I ever saw growing up was Belle–and that was only when I was very young. I didn’t know much about the others except for Ariel, the mermaid, because Mom told us how she saw it and knew she didn’t want us growing up watching her (apparently she is very rebellious).

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned more about these girls—What their names are, their story basics, their flaws and the things they did do right, and the names of all their guys. I’ll be doing another post soon with my thoughts on them…

This week I began to learn more from the screen caps and quotes. And I found the most beautiful pictures, which I’m going to share. :)

Swimming

28 Jun

We’re still doing little Oakley (who is not very little anymore); and his owners have generously offered their pool for our enjoyment during the day while they’re gone. Yesterday was our first day swimming in it.

The deepest came up to my neck, so it wasn’t very deep at all. We got to use their floaties, too. We had a lot of fun swimming. I got a little pink . . . . It was very refreshing as it was 115 degrees out…

Today we went and bought some goggles and floaties. :) We’ll get to use the chicken neighbors’s pool this week while they’re gone, too. :)

So, what about you? Do you like swimming? Can you swim? Do you have a pool of any size?  Do you burn easily? *grin*

Hopefully I get some pictures for y’all soon. :)

Chicken Run: A Film Review

27 Jun

“While the chickens on Mrs. Tweedy’s farm dream of a better life, a clever hen named Ginger is hatching plans to fly the coop for good. The only problem is, chickens can’t fly, or can they? Every escape attempt goes fowl until Rocky, a smooth-talking All-American rooster, crash lands in the coop. It’s hardly poultry in motion when Rocky attempts to teach Ginger and her fine feathered friends to fly, but, with teamwork, determination, and a little bit of cluck, the fearless flock plots one last daring attempt in a spectacular bid for freedom.”

First Thoughts: I was kinda thinking “eh, it might be okay”. When I found out it was clay animation I became even more ‘iffy’. I was expecting it to be funny, though, and it delivered.

Setting: The setting is England, on Mrs Tweedy’s farm. :) It was suppose to look like a Nazi camp, too….

Characters: The characters were very well done; you could tell all most of the chickens apart and they had different personalities, so you aren’t likely to be getting them mixed up. Ginger, the lead hen in all the escapes, was spunky but kind and thoughtful. Rocky, an American Rhode Island Red, was funny; I liked him quite a bit.  The two salesmen rats were hilarious; and Mrs Tweedy was made a perfectly horrid antagonist. And her poor husband, Mr Tweedy, was also hilarious. PSHT. Everyone is hilarious….

Film Quality: For being clay animation, it was really good!! :) The music worked with it really, really well, too.

Plot: The plot was good. It was a good story, good characters, good lines, and good hilarity.

Dislikes: Eh, the romance. Small as it was, it was unneeded and awkward. Didn’t like it….

Final Thoughts: Good film for the family (thought it has some intensity for younger children). Very funny and clean. See it if you can. :)

PS. You can watch the trailer on my second playlist. :)

Brief Post

25 Jun

It’s been a pretty tough week for my family. I’m glad the weekend is here and I can just sit and breath without rushing about. Mom and Kayla have gone shopping and I’m here to keep an eye on Nathan.

Today I’ll probably work on my different Star Wars posts for the Birthday marathon…so, I’m really cheating y’all out of a decent post. Oh well.

Last night our family saw ‘Chicken Run’ for the first time (decent review coming soon). It was pretty funny; I’d like to watch it again before we take it back. It was a little intense for Nathan, though. But, if you do get a chance to see it, do. It’s funny. :) Have any of you seen it?

For all my music/star wars friends . . . don't kill me.
